What does this verifier check?

Signature. Ed25519 signature over the record hash, verified with the public key bundled in the evidence file.
Record hash. The bundled record_hash matches a fresh SHA-256 over the JCS-canonicalized canonical payload.
Trace hash. The trace_hash inside the canonical payload matches a fresh SHA-256 over the JCS-canonicalized trace.
Chain replay. Each record in the bundled chain segment links to its predecessor's hash.

All four must pass for the record to be considered intact. Any single failure means the record (or trace, or chain) was tampered with after Athena signed it.
